Santo Domingo

Discovered by Columbus and the first capital of the new world, Santo Domingo is today an exciting mix of extraordinary historical attractions and modernity. Santo Domingo is considered the true metropolis of the Caribbean, ahead of Kingston, La Havana and San Juan. The city attracts many international firms and franchises due to its geographic location, stability and growing economy.

  • Santo Domingo is a lively and exciting city of museums, culture, art, international cuisine, pulsating nightlife, casinos, shopping opportunities, top class hotels and ideal venues for meetings and incentives.
  • General costs are lower than the rest of the Caribbean capitals.
    In addition to its historical and natural treasures, its privileged location overlooking the Caribbean Sea and proximity to famous beaches, the city is a centre of economic activity in the Dominican Republic.
  • There are plenty of choices for congress and meeting planners in Santo Domingo. Hotel Dominican Fiesta & Casino has a 2850-person capacity convention center, and hotels such as Inter Continental V Centenario, Barceló Gran Hotel Lina, Meliá Santo Domingo, Renaissance Jaragua Hotel, Sheraton, among others, offer space for meetings and conferences for 400 to 1,200 attendees.
  • Santo Domingo is served by two international airports with connections worldwide. The largest airport, Las Americas International Airport is the busiest in the country handling more than 2.5 million passengers per year. The other airport, La Isabela, principally serves domestic and civil flights.

Punta Cana

Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata is located on the Amber Coast with 5 miles of unspoiled beaches on the north side of the island. Puerto Plata has its own airport, 19 hotels, a convention centre and a commercial centre, all located 15 to 30 minutes from the airport.

  • Playa Dorada hotel complex is located in Puerto Plata on 250 acres and is a self-contained area offering travellers the choice of fourteen resorts, malls, discos, casinos, restaurants and a beautiful 13-mile sandy beach.
  • Nestled within the complex the open-air mall “Playa Dorado Mall” offers grocery stores, medical supplies, souvenir shops, bars, a selection of food outlets, jewellery shops and banks.
  • The Playa Dorada Complex has facilities for meetings and conventions; The Grand Ventana and Playa Naco resorts offer meeting facilities for up to 800 persons.
  • The prestigious Playa Dorada golf course of 18 hotels was designed by Robert Trent Jones, one of the most recognised English golf designers.
  • More than 47 hotel restaurants, 3 casinos, spa’s, bars and discos complete the incomparable offering of Playa Dorada.
  • Nearby, the new Iberostar Costa Dorada can accommodate 400 persons and the RUI Hotel complex has accommodation for 1,200.

La Romana

Southeast of Punta Cana and 100 km from Santo Domingo lies La Romana, one of the most important places in the Dominican Republic and a preferred destination amongst many travellers. With clear azure waters and endless white sandy beaches, it is no surprise that La Romana has attracted world-renowned hotels.

  • La Romana is the third-largest city in the Dominican Republic with a population estimated at 250,000.
  • The city is the capital of the southeastern province of La Romana, opposite Catalina Island. The name Romana comes from a balance that was used to weigh merchandise for export.
  • The modern La Romana International Airport was opened in 2000 and the city is near several other cities, such as San Pedro de Macorís and the national capital, Santo Domingo de Guzmán.
  • The city is a hub for a growing tourist industry with several nearby local resort spots, such as the beachfront Bayahibe, Dominicus, Casa de Campo, and the growing number of Golf Resorts that surround the area.
  • Casa de Campo has won several awards as a preferred place for meetings and incentives. The resort features two conference centers with flexible meeting space. The largest meeting room is 5 000 sq. ft. and it has a total indoor meeting space of 15 000 sq. ft. Also ranked as the “Best Golf Resort in the Caribbean” by Travel & Leisure, Casa de Campo offers three world class Peter Dye courses.
  • Dreams La Romana boasts a convention center with eight meeting rooms of which the largest room offers 7 975 sq. ft. and space for 750 people theatre style.
  • There are several other resorts that offer space for meetings and conferences including both the Wyndham Dominicus Beach and Wyndham Dominicus Palace with event space for 250-300 attendees, state-of-the-art equipment and other group facilities.
