Ovation Sweden DMC has developed a new concept in Stockholm for incentive groups along the waters of downtown Stockholm.
Described as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, Stockholm has a Nordic vision of waterways, parks and spire-filled skylines.
Spread over fourteen islands and surrounded by thousands of small rocket islets, it combines the drama and open skies with dynamism and urban coolness. Also, its location on the shores of the Baltic Sea allows the visitors to experience a beautiful summer evening and the winter charm of its frozen lakes.
The water is characterized by being very clean and this is one of the reasons why we can now do fishing competitions for groups. The idea is performing a short course in the art of fishing run by an award-winning Swedish fisherman and then the fun starts. Depending on the season you can catch perch, pike and Baltic herring.
You will use the area close to the royal castle like Riddarholmen and Kungsholmen as the basis for fishing. After an hour practising the group gets picked up by RIB boats and is taken to the archipelago and a private island, which is dressed up as a Swedish mid-summer party with the barbecue on.
The fish caught is fried and other Swedish specialities like crayfish, meatballs and cinnamon rolls are being served. The tradition in Sweden is to drink snaps (aquavit) and Swedish beer together with lunch. We are working with some microbreweries and local beer is served.
There is entertainment too with traditional Swedish folk dance, where everybody is invited to join and an award ceremony for the best fishermen. Also, taking advantage of the fresh water, why not going for a swim as well?
Finally, the guests end up their island stay with a visit to our floating sauna. Then they are taken back to Stockholm in an old steamship, where coffee is served onboard.
Going fishing is very suitable for incentive groups and conference groups up to 100 persons and can last from 2 hours till a full day.
