Copenhagen: explore the undiscovered suburbs

Ovation Denmark DMC takes you further in Copenhagen.

On this incentive day out of the city, we take you along the coast and stop at the inspiring concept community designed by Arne Jacobsen. We walk to the BellaVista apartments (protected), BelleVue Theater, both in Funkis Style (also known as Bauhaus) from the 1930s. The beach also called BelleVue with still used designer lifeguard stands.

See Denmark’s oldest oak tree: 800 years old. Walk to UNESCO Deer Park, learn of the Parceforce hunting style, how King Christian V overtook the existing community and turned the entire area (10sqkm) into his private hunting grounds.

Some of the trees are over 400 years old, the 3 types of deer (herd over 2000), which you most likely will see roaming in the free. A treasure hunt can be arranged in the Park with the finish at Hermitage hunting castle, built-in 1736 during King Christian VI reign at the highest point of the forest. Here refreshments are being served. From here we go with Horse-drawn carriages to the thatched roof restaurant called, Peter Liep’s Hus. This eatery is from 1888 and was started by the woodsman Peter Liep. We will have a traditional Danish luncheon.

After lunch, we continue to Frydenlund Estate’s orchard. In early fall there is an opportunity to pick your own organic fruit, and you will have the possibility to buy the Castle’s own production of speciality jams, jellies, Gin and Eau de Vie!. We continue to Mothsgård Museum. This historic building holds the secrets of over 500 years of local history. The building was owned by one of the King’s most trusted advisors and Minister of the Interior in the 1600s.

We also learn of Denmark’s wealthiest man in the 1700s as well. There is a small team challenge on the history of Denmark and we look at these focal points from both a local and an international perspective and learn about the land, hunting and fishing developments.

Walk to Søllerød Kro, this historic Inn which opened to it’s first guests in 1677. Awarded one star from Michelin and renowned for its sublime wine menu. We will have a small snack and a drink and finish off the day.
