Copenhagen: explore the undiscovered suburbs

Ovation Denmark DMC takes you further in Copenhagen.

BelleVue

On this incentive day out of the city, we take you along the coast and stop at the inspiring concept community designed by Arne Jacobsen. In addition, we walk to the BellaVista apartments (protected), BelleVue Theater, both in Funkis Style (also known as Bauhaus) from the 1930s. The beach also called BelleVue with still used designer lifeguard stands.

UNESCO Deer Park 

Furthermore, see Denmark´s oldest oak tree, which is 800 years old. You can walk to the UNESCO Deer Park. Learn about the Parceforce hunting style, where King Christian V overtook the existing community and turned the entire area (10sqkm) into his private hunting grounds.

 

Hermitage hunting castle

Some of the trees are over 400 years old. Moreover, the 3 types of deer (herd over 2000), which you are likely to see roaming freely. In addition, a treasure hunt can be arranged in the Park that ends at the Hermitage hunting castle. This castle was built during King Christian VI reign in 1736 and is located at the highest point of the forest. Here refreshments are served. After, a horse-drawn carriage takes us to Peter Liep’s Hus which is a thatched-roof restaurant. This eatery is from 1888 and was started by woodsman Peter Liep. We will have a traditional Danish luncheon.

Frydenlund Estate’s orchard

After lunch, we will go to Frydenlund Estate’s orchard. In early fall there is an opportunity to pick your own organic fruit. you Moreover, you will be able to buy the Castle’s own production of jams, jellies, Gin and Eau de Vie!. Then, we will continue our route to the Mothsgård Museum. This historic building holds the secrets of over 500 years of local history. Furthermore, the building was owned by one of the King’s most trusted advisors and Minister of the Interior in the 1600s.

 

 

We also learn of Denmark’s wealthiest man in the 1700s as well. There is a small team challenge on the history of Denmark and we look at these focal points from both a local and an international perspective. Additionally, we will learn about the land, hunting and fishing developments.

 

Walk to Søllerød Kro, this historic Inn which opened to it’s first guests in 1677. Awarded one star from Michelin and renowned for its sublime wine menu. Finally, ee will have a small snack and a drink and finish off the day.
