Cuba: A Blast from the Past

Events & Incentives in Cuba: A Blast from the Past

The bus drops-off all the participants at the Havana International Airport, José Marti. This event is officially over, but the memories will stay forever in the minds of thousands of attendees. The smell of the waves crashing on the Havana Malecon; the narrow cobblestone streets of Old Havana full of musicians and picturesque places; and the warm welcome of the Cuban people will remain as one of the most unique and unreplicable experiences for every visitor.

From medical and educational conferences, to sports and leisure events, Ovation Cuba DMC takes pride in the meticulous planning and steps it takes to execute every detail of those magical events. Knowing that every client and visitor will not only enjoy their stay in Cuba, but will also forge a lifetime memory.

That was the case during two important medical events that took place in Cuba during 2019: Pharmacology Habana 2019, took place in October and was hosted at the hotel Habana Libre by the Sociedad Cubana de Farmacología; and, Angiocaribe 2019 in December, hosted at the hotel Plaza America Varadero by the Sociedad Cubana de Angiología y Cirugía Vascular.

Sports events is also a category that requires immense planning, logistical coordination and medical attention for athletes, a specialty that Cuba pioneers with their doctors and experts in sports medicine. Example of that was The Titan Tropic, a 5-day stage race that covered 280 miles and climbed about 20,000 vertical feet of climbing, from Havana to Soroa to Viñales and finally to Cayo Jutias. Planned and managed by the Ovation Cuba DMC team, the race was a total success that united athletes from around the world who camped under the stars in the Soroa Valley and finished their race like never before, in the crystal clear turquoise waters of Cayo Jutias.

Eric Porter, Diamond Back pro mountain biker, was one of the participants that visited Cuba during the Titan Tropic stage race across the island in 2016. “It’s so cool the places that my bike has taken me. I’ve dreamed of coming to Cuba for a long time,” said Eric Porter during his visit. “It felt exactly like it was supposed to, there were old cars, everyone is super nice, the water is beautiful. It’s just an awesome experience. Just really really good people here.”

During 2019, Cuba hosted more than 500 travel agents under two events: II International Congress of ACTUAL and the 17th Edition of Meeting Place. Katy Torres, owner of TCN Travel was one of the participants. It was her third time in Cuba. When asked why she keeps visiting and bringing clients back to Cuba she said “Why not. Everything is great about Cuba. I could never pick one thing I like. There are simply too many amazing things on this island.”
