You just missed the most incredible street party of the year!

Today, Friday the 28th of April, the Dutch are all having a bit of a slow day, since yesterday was the national ´Kingsday´. Now, most countries have a national day, but the Dutch one is quite special! The biggest party place is the capital of Amsterdam, that each year receives about a million visitors for the day (more than the actual population of the city).

Everyone dresses up in orange costumes, paying tribute to the Kings birthday (the Dutch Royal family is called ´the house of Orange´) while passing by the many activities taking place on the streets and parks. Imagine live music on every corner, people selling home-made delicacies in front of their houses, canals filled with party boats and of course a lot of people enjoying a Dutch beer.

Since this celebration is so different from any other celebration around the world, this is also an excellent opportunity to get to know the crazy Dutch culture for foreign visitors! If you don´t want to miss the party next year, get in touch and maybe we can celebrate it together next year!
